It was Day 2 of our "Homeschool" due to being quarantined. We are keeping up with our routine. It's hard for me to just live the day to day without having some kind of purpose and as frightening and scary as the world is right now, I have to say I'm grateful for this, no matter how crazy it feels, because I feel like I have something to look forward to and work towards. I love researching new, fun ideas for the kids to do and organizing CLA bags and learning together. We have learned so much the past couple of days-
Did you know snails have the most teeth out of any animal?
T-rex had 50 sharp teeth..
Giraffes don't have any top teeth on the front!
The kids are loving these random facts!
So, just like any day, from 7:00AM-9:00AM, we had breakfast and got dressed. But of course, today was St. Patty's Day, so we did all things lucky and green!
We enjoyed our LUCKY breakfast and we all got ready in our new GREEN clothes! We bought these for school, but since schools are closed, we decided to still go all out and wear them at home!
9AM-10AM is exercise time and I forgot to take pictures today of that! But we downloaded GoNoodles on the Roku and have been doing that every morning! The kids favorites are: the Llama song, Boom Chicka Boom, and If I were Not a GoNoodler. Go check them out!
From 10AM-11AM, it is LEARNING time! We do our CLA bags and some other fun learning activities. Today, Tayler learned about the solar system, money, and positional words. Quinn practiced site words, wrote about winter weather, and wrote number story problems. Lucas read a St. Patrick's Day book, played Dinosaur Chomp on ABC Mouse, and did his #2 and #3 tracing pages.
This is the only picture I got of learning time because that's usually the time I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off LOL. Everyone says, "I need help" every 3 seconds haha! So, that's what it typically looks like. Helping one kid, moving on to the next, and so on and so forth. I love it though. Like I said before, this makes me feel like I have a drive and self-worth. I'll take it!
From 11AM-noon, it's CREATIVE time!
Today, we watched Blippi and learned about dinosaurs since that's what Luc's unit is about this week. We also colored together. Tayler decided to play the piano for a period of time too. That's her favorite "creative" activity.
At noon, it's our hour lunch break. I usually make the kids sit at the kitchen table, but lately, we've been enjoying lunch sitting on the living room floor while watching some kind of learning movie/tv show. Today, we watched a youtube video about the solar system since Tayler had to read a book about that today and we also listened to some "Season Songs" since Quinn had to write a paper about winter weather.
From 1:00-1:30PM, it's CHORE time. They each have assigned chores to do. Quinn has to vacuum the living room, Lucas helps make beds, and Tayler has to sweep the kitchen. I'm still working on Tayler actually doing it and not throwing a fit all over the floor LOL, but the other two did amazing!
This gives me time to work on dishes and laundry! I know a clean house isn't necessary as it's just us home for the next couple of weeks, but I feel depressed if it's messy in here! This helps my anxiety a bit!
From 1:30-2:00, it's QUIET time! For quiet time today, we turned off the TVs and iPads and played with our Tangram Puzzles and did a math game! It was so much fun! We even had to learn about being a happy not-winner of a game ;)
From 2:00PM-3:00PM, it's learning time again. Lucas opted to build with legos and Quinn is loving playing a game on PBS Kids right now. They're Pinkalicious games. You can check them out HERE.
And from 3:00-4:00, it's RECESS. They can do whatever they would like before we start cleaning up for dinner.
I know it probably seems like we do a lot and honestly, I don't think everyone in the world has to be dealing with this pandemic and quarantine like the Bays do. This is for my mental health and to make sure I'm being the best me I can be during this time. Routine helps me breathe. If I sat around the house with no drive and no focus, I feel like I would crumble beneath the weight of this virus. This helps us think about other things. I'm grateful.
I hope everyone else is coping and surviving in their own ways. Love you all so much!!
